Assigning Custom Component Hotkeys

Assigning Components to Hotkeys

For components that you use frequently, you can set up hotkeys to easily place them on the canvas at the touch of a button. This feature is especially useful for components you place repeatedly in your designs, such as resistors, capacitors, or specific ICs.

To assign a component to a hotkey:

  1. Place the component that you want to assign to a hotkey on the canvas
  2. Select the component and press Shift + 1 through Shift + 5 to assign the currently selected component to number keys 1 through 5
  3. To insert the component using the hotkey, simply press the number key (1-5) that was mapped to the component

Note: Component hotkeys are specific to the schematic editor and are saved with your project.

Tips for Using Component Hotkeys

  • Assign your most frequently used components to hotkeys for maximum efficiency
  • Consider assigning components in a logical order (e.g., 1 for resistors, 2 for capacitors)
  • You can reassign hotkeys at any time by selecting a different component and using the same Shift + number combination
  • Component hotkeys work alongside other keyboard shortcuts to speed up your design workflow

In addition to component hotkeys, you can also save and recall viewport positions in the schematic editor:

  • Use Shift + 6 through Shift + 9 to save the current viewport position
  • Press 6 through 9 to recall the saved viewport position
