Mechanical Parts in the Flux Part Library
Flux is an AI hardware engineer. It brings mechanical hardware and product components into the same Part Library as your electronics.
Find mechanical hardware
Use the Part Library to find hardware for a board, enclosure, assembly, or complete product. The library includes fasteners, screws, nuts, washers, standoffs, threaded inserts, enclosures, brackets, and heat sinks. Use these parts to mount a board, join an assembly, or support a mechanical design.
Open the Part Library in your project.
Search for the part by name or type.
Review the available mechanical parts.
Add the part to your project.
Ask Flux to place or use it in the assembly.
Start with the function the part serves. Search for a standoff when you need board support, a threaded insert when a part needs a threaded mounting point, or a heat sink for a thermal design. Search for a screw, nut, or washer when you need fastening hardware.
Flux's public library includes more than 734,000 parts. Mechanical hardware includes stock from McMaster-Carr, MISUMI, and JLCMC. Use the part information and model in the project as you design around the hardware.
Add electromechanical parts
Mechanical products often combine moving and electrical parts. The Part Library includes motors, servo motors, stepper motors, solenoids, fans, actuators, switches, connectors, relays, and cables. Add the parts that drive movement, move air, or connect the product.
Search for the hardware by its function or part type.
Add the relevant motor, servo, stepper, fan, actuator, or connector to the project.
Ask Flux to place the part in the assembly.
Describe the mounting surface, axis, or connection that defines its position.
Design a bracket or housing around the real part.
Use the part's role to guide the mechanical design. A servo needs a mount around its body and output axis. A fan needs room for its housing and airflow path. A connector needs an opening and space for its cable.
Add devices to the product
The Part Library also includes display devices, speakers, buzzers, microphones, batteries, and power sources. Add these parts to the same project as the board and mechanical assembly. They help you design housings, mounts, and openings around the real device dimensions.
Search for the product device you need.
Add it to the project with the board and mechanical parts.
Ask Flux to place it in the product assembly.
Describe the orientation, position, and access needs.
Ask Flux to design the surrounding mount or enclosure.
For a display, state which surface faces outward and where the active area sits. For a battery, describe the required position and how it attaches. For a speaker or microphone, state where its opening should appear on the enclosure.
Use part types
Part types help organize the parts you use. Learn how Flux categorizes parts in How to use part types. Use Part Library for more details about the Part Library and its search and filters.
You can ask Flux to find a specific kind of hardware and place it in an assembly. Include the product requirement, mounting surface, or dimension that matters. For a design with several hardware items, describe where each part belongs and how the parts connect.
