Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Checks

Flux is an AI hardware engineer. It checks PCB, assembly, panel, and mechanical designs against manufacturing rules before you order.

Choose manufacturing rules before DRC

Ask Flux to select the manufacturing profile and check the board against its rules.

Choose a manufacturing profile that fits this board and run DRC against its rules.
Check this board against the profile's trace width, spacing, drill size, and layer rules.
Compare profiles that fit this design, then run DRC with the selected profile.
Run DRC against the fabricator's capabilities and report every rule that the board does not meet.

Manufacturing profiles describe a fabricator's capabilities and board rules. Flux compares rules such as trace width, spacing, drill size, and layer count. DRC checks the board against the selected profile.

In PCB or BOM mode, select Profile in the project left drawer and choose a profile from Manufacturing Profile. See Manufacturing Profiles to compare rules and save stackups.

Check exported board files

Ask Flux to check the exported board files and package the findings before you order.

Check the exported Gerbers for copper gaps below the fabricator's minimum spacing.
Review the silkscreen and board outline in the manufacturing files.
Render the top and bottom layers, run DRC on the exported board file, and package the results.
Check the exported board files against the manufacturing profile and prepare a report.

Flux checks Gerber copper gaps against the fabricator's minimum spacing. It checks the silkscreen and board outline, renders the top and bottom layers to images, and runs DRC on the exported board file.

Flux packages the file-check results and layer images in a report. Open Chat and ask Flux to check the exported files before you order.

Cross-check BOM and pick-and-place data

Ask Flux to compare the BOM and pick-and-place files with the board and Gerbers.

Compare the BOM and pick-and-place data with the board and Gerbers.
Check that the assembly files match the current board and component placements.
Find BOM or pick-and-place entries that do not match the board files.
Review the assembly outputs and package a report of any mismatches.

Flux cross-checks the BOM and pick-and-place files against the board and Gerbers. Use the results to prepare consistent files for PCB assembly.

Prepare assembly drawings

Ask Flux to prepare an assembly drawing for the board.

Create an assembly drawing with component references and orientations.
Prepare an assembly drawing for this board and include all component references.
Update the assembly drawing to match the latest component placements.
Check the assembly drawing against the board and pick-and-place files.

Flux prepares assembly drawings with component references and orientations. See Manufacturing with Flux for assembly and fabrication drawings.

Check a production panel

Ask Flux to create a panel and check its manufacturing output.

Panelize this board 2x3 with mouse bites, 5 mm rails, and fiducials, then review the panel check.
Make a 3x1 panel with V-cuts and rails and report its size and board count.
Create a panel with tooling holes and check its panel DRC result.
Review the panel preview and manufacturing files before I request a quote.

Flux returns a panel preview, Gerber ZIP, panel board file, panel size, board count, and design rule check result. See PCB Panels to prepare a panel and request a quote.

Check mechanical parts against process limits

Ask Flux to check a mechanical part against its manufacturing process.

Check this enclosure against SLA printing process limits and prepare it for manufacturing.
Review this motor bracket for CNC milling and check it against the process limits.
Check this flat battery tray for sheet metal and laser cutting.
Check this housing against injection molding process limits.

Flux applies process limits for SLA, SLS/MJF, CNC milling, sheet metal, laser cutting, and injection molding. State the part and process so Flux can check the intended manufacturing method.

Compare quotes for checked designs

Ask Flux to compare quotes for the board, panel, or mechanical part.

Compare quotes for 10 bare boards and 10 assembled boards.
Get a quote for 10 copies of the checked panel and compare the manufacturers.
Compare 3D-print and CNC quotes for this enclosure by price and lead time.
Get a sheet-metal quote for the checked battery tray.
Order 10 boards from the approved JLCPCB quote and shipping option.

Flux compares manufacturing quotes for the selected design and quantity. See Order from Flux to compare options and place an order.

Run a manufacturing review

Ask Flux to check the design outputs for PCB fabrication, assembly, panels, and mechanical manufacturing.

Review the board files, BOM, pick-and-place data, assembly drawing, and panel outputs before I order. Fix the issues you find and prepare a report.
Check this enclosure against its manufacturing process limits, then compare quotes for the selected process.
Run DRC against the manufacturing profile and check the exported files, assembly data, and panel report.
Review all manufacturing files for this product and summarize the checks and changes.

Flux checks the files and designs you name and reports its findings. Ask for the checks before you order.
