Parallel threads in Flux

Get a complete product done in less time. Flux works on several parts of the device at the same time, for example the main board, a daughterboard, the enclosure, and the parts library.

Flux can work on several design tasks at the same time. Each workstream has its own thread, so you can follow its progress and review its results.

Start parallel work

Describe the device and the parts of the design that can progress separately. Flux can work on the main board, daughterboards, and enclosure at the same time. Flux can also start work in separate projects and track each workstream in the thread sidebar.

Ask Flux to run the separate workstreams in parallel.

Design the main board, two daughterboards, and the enclosure in parallel. Keep the board outlines, connector positions, and mounting interfaces aligned. Report the progress and results here.

To follow the threads in the UI:

  1. Open the project's Chat panel.

  2. Describe the separate workstreams in one request.

  3. Select Show All Threads to open the thread sidebar.

  4. Select a thread to read its messages, progress, and results.

  5. Open a thread's More menu and select Open in Split View to view it beside the current thread.

Work across projects

Ask Flux to start a thread for each project and to report the results in the current thread.

Start a thread in the enclosure project to update the lid for the new connector position. Report the result here.
Start threads in the main board and sensor board projects. Check that the connector pinouts match, then summarize the differences.

You can also do it in the UI:

Start separate threads for work in different projects. Use the thread sidebar to follow each workstream and collect its results.

Flux keeps related work aligned. Changes that move an interface or resize a board wait for your approval. Review the proposed change in its thread before Flux applies it.

Example requests

Design the main board and two daughterboards in parallel. Keep the connector positions and board outlines aligned.
Route the power board while another thread checks the schematic and selects replacement components.
Design the enclosure base and lid in parallel. Keep mounting points and connector openings aligned.
Design the chassis and battery mount in parallel. Report interface changes before applying them.
