Mark up the canvas for Flux
Flux is an AI hardware engineer. With Markup, you draw on the schematic, the PCB layout, or the 3D view, and Flux sees what you marked when you send your next message.
Markup is for requests that are faster to show than to describe: a part you circle, a path you draw, or an area that you outline.
Draw on the canvas and ask Flux
Circle or draw on the part of the design that you mean. Then refer to the mark in your prompt.
Open the Schematic or the PCB editor. In the PCB editor, use the 2D or the 3D view.
Set the view so that the area you want to mark is visible.
In the chat composer, select Markup (the stylus button). When the composer is narrow, select More, then Markup.
Drag on the canvas to draw. You can draw as many strokes as you need. The bar at the bottom of the canvas shows Markup and Esc Exit.
Type your request. The composer shows "Draw on the canvas and ask about it".
Select Send.
Flux gets one image of the current view with your markup, together with your message. After you send, Markup ends and the strokes clear from the canvas. The markup does not change your design.
Write prompts that refer to the markup
Say what the mark means in your prompt. Use words such as "circled", "outlined", "marked", or "the line I drew". This tells Flux which part of the image your request is about.
Use one shape for one meaning. For example, circle the parts to move, and draw a line for the path to route.
Exit Markup
Do one of these steps to exit Markup without sending a message:
Press Esc.
Select Exit Markup in the composer.
Markup also ends, and the strokes clear, when you change the editor tab, switch between the PCB 2D and 3D views, change the thread, or resize the canvas.
While Markup is on, the pointer draws on the canvas. The camera, zoom, and view controls of the canvas are paused, so the view does not move under your strokes. Exit Markup to move the view, then start Markup again.
